Goals and Mission

Patagonia’s Aysén Institute for interdisciplinary studies will contribute to solving regional and global societal challenges. The Mission of the Institute is to contribute to making the region a better place and at the same time connecting and projecting its expertise to the rest of the world.

The Institute will select work items from highest potential areas for the region such as Technologies regarding the study, conservation, and sustainable economic utilization of natural resources Bio-diversity, Aquaculture, Glaciology, and Antarctica: climate study of the extreme south, but also consider Tourism, Emergency Response, Energy efficiency and Forestry. The institute will apply and develop leading edge technologies including Data Mining, Big Data and the Internet of Things.

The institute will utilize the excellent expertise and the uniqueness of the resources from within the region of Patagonia, within Chile and the world. The institute will partner with natural allies including the local people and economy, creating an organization internationally recognized and reflecting the pride of the people and the region, working with the connected university, technology parks and natural park system parks and other economic drivers.
