We assume that

  • Global technology change cannot be developed or understood or even coordinated by a single company or government
  • There is an enormous need for interdisciplinary, integrational research
  • A new viewpoint is important and requires new thinking and even new geography
  • Successful, interdisciplinary research requires sustained support by government, academia & industry
  • Because of its unique geography, Chile is a natural laboratory for the exploration, discovery & creation of new knowledge with practical applicability
